TEWKESBURY SCHOOL WINS LABC AWARD

Alderman Knight School in Tewkesbury caters for pupils from the ages of 4-16 with specialist needs, and was awarded the prestigious title at the West of England LABC Awards which took place in Bristol on Friday 20 June.

The award follows a two year project to extend and redevelop the school to meet the growing needs of pupil numbers and provide state-of-the-art facilities.

Clare Steel, Headteacher at Alderman Knight School said they were delighted to have received the award: “We are extremely proud of the building and the positive impact that is has had on the whole school community. The award is a great reminder of the quality of the design and workmanship and the success of the project as a whole.”

Speller Metcalfe worked alongside Quattro Architects to complete the design and build of the project, which included two new classroom buildings, entrance, kitchen and dining facilities, hall, ICT suite and a life skills apartment as the new part of the school.

“As well as the new buildings that have been provided for the school, we did some extensive refurbishment to the existing school which has just helped to provide a more coherent layout and some fantastic, up-to-date facilities for pupils and staff,” said Andy Metcalfe, Joint Managing Director at Speller Metcalfe.

“We are simply proud to have been part of such an integral development for the local area, and this LABC award recognises the high quality design and teamwork that went into the project.”
