Regional contractor celebrates milestone 1000 residential developments
Malvern-based contractor, Speller Metcalfe, has reached a major milestone for the residential department of the firm with over 1000 homes completed, which marks the success of their expansion into the affordable housing sector since 2011.
Some of their key schemes includes the construction of 74 properties in Lockleaze in Bristol for Abri, the Cotswold Gardens Development of 12 luxury homes for the over 55s on behalf of Blue Cedar and 92 affordable homes in Pickersleigh Grove for Fortis Living.
Director for the residential division, Mark Eaton said: “We’re pleased to have reached such a significant milestone for the company and are proud of the strides we’ve made in the residential sector. This achievement would not have been possible without the work of the team, so I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone.
“The residential sector has been a strong part of Speller Metcalfe’s growth within recent years, and we’ve made a commitment to providing affordable and sustainable housing along with our delivery partners and registered providers. It is with people in mind that we approach each of our projects, with a key understanding that what we build for our customers is not just a house, but a home.”
Another notable scheme delivered by the company includes the Canalside neighbourhood Port Loop, in collaboration with Urban Splash and Places for People. The project won multiple awards including Best Regeneration Initiative at Housebuilder Awards and Placemaking Project of the Year at Midlands Business Insider Residential Awards 2020, followed by two RIBA awards in 2023.
The division of the firm is currently on site with a number of schemes including 54 modern, energy efficient retirement apartments in Pershore and 44 new affordable homes for Stroud District Council.
In the last two years the contractor has completed a number of sustainable developments including achieving net zero carbon and Passivhaus standards, worked on diversifying their pipeline to include retrofit and regeneration works and supported over 20 clients across the years.
