SPELLER METCALFE WINS CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION NEWS AWARDS
The inspirational winners of the 2015 Construction News Awards were announced to the industry on 30 June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London (view the shortlist here).
The Construction News Awards brought together over 1300 industry leaders from across the UK for a glittering evening of celebration, recognition and networking.
After face to face review by our panel of 57 expert judges, Speller Metcalfe won in the Contractor of the Year category, and was described as “industry-leading” in fields such as employee engagement and innovation, helping it to “punch above its weight” in its 20th year.
We were also acknowledged as a finalist for ‘Sustainable Project of the Year’ for our work at Western Power Distribution in Spilsby, which was announced as the world’s highest BREEAM Outstanding project in 2014.
The judges also commented: “Speller Metcalfe is a very forward-thinking company, with high staff retention and excellent employee engagement which provided a compelling narrative and showcased a company that was industry-leading in many ways.”
Denise Chevin, consultant editor of Construction News said: “The calibre of entries seems to rise each year demonstrating the fantastic work going on in the sector – technical ingenuity, great business acumen and world class projects. Winning a Construction News Awards is something for companies and individuals to be immensely proud of and is an excellent way of showing clients that you really are at the top of your game.”
Speller Metcalfe has a strong history of award winning schemes, and has been quick to emphasise why this award has been one of the most special: “In our 20th year, to win Contractor of the Year against some of the biggest names in construction is simply a fantastic achievement,” said Steve Speller, joint managing director at the company.
“What is so special about this award is its recognition of everyone in the Speller Metcalfe team – after all the big projects, all the industry-leading schemes and initiatives that are an important part of what we do, they are a piece of a bigger picture. It’s our incredible staff that have won this award and this is for every one of them.”
