The Constructing Excellence Awards are organised around the UK by the ten regional Centres of Constructing Excellence. The Celebrating Construction Awards are designed to showcase excellence and reward the accomplishments of organisations and project teams that have achieved Regional acclaim. To qualify for the Awards the project team / organisation should have engaged with the Constructing Excellence agenda and adhered to the principles of Rethinking Construction. Rethinking Construction is the banner under which the construction industry, its clients and the government are working together to improve UK construction performance. Rethinking Construction was initiated by the report of the Construction Task Force chaired by Sir John Egan 1998. The principles are Client leadership, integrated teams throughout the delivery chain, and respect for people.

The Awards represent a culmination of success and associated recognition and Speller Metcalfe have been shortlisted in the SME category which is open to construction companies employing 250 or fewer people who have made strides in improving their company through implementing best practice. Judges will be looking for examples of where improvements have been made across the board in terms of both people and processes, people development; adopting best practice, and collaborative and new ways of working.

James Speller, Business Development Manager says “We are really excited to have been shortlisted for this award; as one of the region’s leading construction firms, this is a real opportunity to take some of the limelight from large multinational firms.”
