SOD-CUTTING CEREMONY MARKS COUNTDOWN TO BUILDING OF SECOND QUEDGELEY SCHOOL

Gloucester based contractor Speller Metcalfe was contracted by repeat client Quedgeley Urban Village LTD (QUVL) to build a second primary school to meet demands of school places following new housing developments

Shaun White, Director of QUVL said “Speller Metcalfe has been fully at the front of our tender process and we look forward to working with Speller Metcalfe for our second school.”

Construction of the £3.2m second primary school will offer 420 school places and will take 48 weeks to complete, finishing September 2013.

To ensure as far as possible the number of school places is in line with local demand, the new school is set to open in stages alongside the projected housing developments.

Gloucester City Council Councillor, Fred Wood said “I’m excited that Kingsway is getting a second school, it is much needed and it shows commitment that we are opening schools and not closing schools”.
