Offmore Primary School

Construction of BREEAM ‘Excellent' school

Project

Offmore Primary School

Built to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards, this highly sustainable project incorporated the construction of a new school and nursery in the Wyre Forest.

Following a 2006 feasability study, it was recommended that a new school building was needed to accommodate the growing school as well as a new nursery.

The old school building was demolished to make away for a modern two-storey block with two single-storey wings housing the school hall, reception and nursery and the two-storey areas being used as classrooms, offices and specialist teaching areas.

Originally forecast to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’, the build reached a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standard at no extra cost to the project by utilising initiatives to protect local wildlife, reusing and recycling materials and improving energy efficiency in terms of energy and water use, pollution and CO2 emissions.
