PRE-CONSTRUCTION DIRECTOR TONY SHAW RETIRES

Tony Shaw said: “It’s a very difficult thing to leave the Company you have worked for and helped to build up over the years, as well as close friends and colleagues.

“It has been a tremendous privilege to work for Speller Metcalfe, who after over 20 years in business have built up an enviable reputation as an industry-leading contractor.”

Tony joined the company as a Contracts Manager in 2000 and with his extensive building and civil engineering experience and ability to interpret and manage contracts, is often referred to as ‘The Oracle’ amongst staff.

Joint Group Managing Director Steve Speller said: “Tony has been an outstanding contributor to Speller Metcalfe, and a personal friend to many.

“Since joining the team he has provided invaluable leadership to our construction teams, and I speak for all the Directors when I say how grateful we are for his input and how he has helped to shape and develop the Speller Metcalfe we know today.”

Following the announcement, Tony will be retiring at the end of March 2016, with James Speller moving into the role of Pre-Construction Director.

Steve continued: “James is the natural replacement for Tony, having managed our estimating, planning, marketing and design coordinator teams for many years, with a key focus on developing our pre-construction resource since Tony stepped into a part-time role in 2014.

“He is a driver of best practice and we know will continue to develop our pre-construction arm in line with our strategy, company requirements and industry standards.”
