92 new affordable homes for Fortis Living
Fortis Living have appointed Malvern-based building contractor Speller Metcalfe to begin work on 92 new affordable homes in Malvern.
The 92 dwelling affordable housing development at Pickersleigh Grove will replace the previous 42 home non-traditional post-war development which was demolished in 2016 and will extend to land adjacent the site purchased by Fortis Living.
The multi-million pound development will comprise a mix of sixty 2, 3 and 4 bed houses for shared ownership sale as well as a further eight 2 and 3 bed houses and 24 one-bedroom flats for affordable rent. Scheme delivery has been supported by an allocation of grant funding from Homes England.
In addition to the 92 properties a children’s play area will be also be built, making use of repurposed timber from trees which are to be felled on site.
The Pickersleigh Grove development will be the largest land led scheme that Fortis Living will deliver and will provide much needed affordable housing. It is also the biggest housing scheme yet for Speller Metcalfe’s Living Division.
Fortis Living procured the project through the Homes England agency Delivery Partner Panel 3 (DPP3) Framework and following an in depth competitive process awarded the contract to Speller Metcalfe in 2017.
Fortis Living’s Assistant Director of Growth and Development Simon Vick said: “As part of the contract award, Fortis Living expect Speller Metcalfe to work closely with local residents and the Grove Primary School to keep the inevitable disruption imposed by the work to a minimum.”
Speller Metcalfe Pre-Construction Manager Rob Ackerman said: “We are delighted to be working with our long-standing client Fortis Living on this exciting new project.
Both Fortis Living and Speller Metcalfe have been part of the Malvern community for many years and are looking forward to collaborating on this scheme which will enhance the local area and deliver a positive impact for existing and future residents of Pickersleigh Grove.”
Fortis Living have recently appointed Speller Metcalfe on a number of schemes in Worcestershire including 11 new homes in Warndon and a new head office on land close to their existing base in Worcester.
