NEW SPORTS FACILITIES FOR BILTON COMMUNITY

The existing sports hall had become inadequate for use, and even dilapidated in some areas with little to no heating: “Importantly, our current sports hall and gym does not meet the needs of our students and is giving out the wrong message,” says Headteacher, Patsy Weighill.

“We want our school to say we value our students, and sports and fitness is an important part of that,” she continued. “Our building contractor Speller Metcalfe has really bought into this vision, and will be working alongside us and the project team to help us deliver a high quality facility for all.”

As well as the new sports hall, a new, two-storey adjacent facility will provide a changing facilities, fitness gym and dance studio built to Sport England standards, and will be open to the public during weekday mornings (6:30-8am), evenings (5-9pm) and weekends.

Des O’Neill, Divisional Manager at Speller Metcalfe said how they intend to work alongside the local community. “We’ve built many schools and associated sports facilities over the years, and what has always been our priority is working alongside the local community. We have a blog tracking progress of the site and time lapse camera in situ, and will be in continuous contact with local residents and businesses who may be interested in the project or have any questions.

The Bilton School project is being delivered through funding from the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund to help improve and maintain facilities throughout UK academies, and will look to complete towards the end of this year. Further information can be found at: http://biltonschool.blogspot.co.uk/
