Worcestershire contractor donates laptops to young people in need
Worcestershire based contractor Speller Metcalfe has donated 30 laptops to the Young Solutions Charity which provides support for organisations who work with young people in Worcestershire.
The laptops will be used to enable access to job applications, training courses such as e-learning, and wider support for the most vulnerable young people across the county.
Pete Sugg, Chief Officer of Young Solutions said: “Young Solutions is delighted to accept the kind donation from Speller Metcalfe. The laptops will be distributed to our members for use within their Youth activities. In addition the Young Solutions Youth Employment programme will be able to utilise the laptops to enable young people to write CV’s ,job applications etc. We look forward to reporting back on the value this donation will bring to our members and developing further projects and Social value partnerships with Speller Metcalfe and Worcestershire County Council.”
The initiative is backed by Worcestershire County Council and the Young Solutions Charity, based in Droitwich which has 80 volunteer sector members, all of whom provide youth activities and training employment opportunities for 11-25 year olds.
Over 25,000 young people are supported by the Charity’s member organisations which focus on providing advice, training, youth clubs, community groups and other organisations with the well-being of children and young people at their core.
Speller Metcalfe’s Social Value Lead, Kate Moore, said: “We’re really pleased to be supporting such a great local charity. After speaking to the Young Solutions team, we know how much of an impact these laptops will have on young people’s ability to access work and training opportunities. It’s a partnership we hope to continue.”
One of their most recent initiatives is Seek and Reach which is a mentor scheme for young people aged 16-24 who are not in education, training or employment living in Worcestershire and the surrounding areas.
