Speller Metcalfe sponsored walk raises nearly £13,000 for Worcester hospice
Last Saturday saw over 190 walkers stride out across the Malvern Hills in support of St Richard’s Hospice.
Walkers had the option of doing the 2 and 5-mile, family friendly routes, or a longer 11 mile walk which involves trekking across the length of the Hills from Chase End.
Local family-business and building contractor, Speller Metcalfe, sponsored the walk for a third year, covering the cost of the event and enabling all money raised to go directly to the hospice.
Sofia Gunster, hospice fundraiser, said: “I wanted to say a huge thank you to Speller Metcalfe for being our event sponsor. With their generosity it means every penny raised from the event can go towards the specialist care we provide to our patients and their families who we also support.
“As it stands the event has raised £12,290 for our care which is amazing!”
Amidst the keen walkers, a number of Speller Metcalfe staff and their families also joined to support the event, including Managing Director, James Speller:
“For Speller Metcalfe, this event is particularly significant. As well as physically building a number of hospice projects, including the most recent addition of The Green courtyard, we also have friends, family and colleagues who have been supported by the hospice over the years.
“It truly means a lot to us that we can give back to them, for the incredible work they do – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – supporting those patients who are treated with the utmost dignity and respect, and provided with an unparalleled quality of care.”
