Pupils settle into new multi-million pound Myton Gardens Primary School in Warwickshire
A brand-new primary school built in Warwick is already making a difference, with pupils having completed their first half-term in the new facility.
Delivered on behalf of Warwickshire County Council, in partnership with Stowe Valley Multi-Academy Trust and through the Constructing West Midlands Framework, the two-storey building provides vital additional school places to support the town’s growing community.
The school, with a project budget of £18.8 million, caters to children across both Key Stages One and Two, alongside an on-site nursery for 34 children and a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision with up to 14 places.
Inside, pupils are benefitting from 15 classrooms, a dance and music room, a library, an assembly hall, and a food science room, all fitted with modern furniture, interactive whiteboards, and play equipment.
Outside, there are three new sports pitches, a multi-use games area (MUGA), landscaped grounds, and a 68-space car park with dedicated electric vehicle charging points.
Sarah Sheepy, Executive Head at Myton Gardens Primary School and Coten End Primary School, said: “We have been delighted to move into our new school this term, and the children are loving their new spaces and facilities. It is an immense privilege to be part of this new school community, and the whole staff team, parents, and pupils recognise how fortunate we are to be at the start of this incredible educational journey.
“The collaboration between Speller Metcalfe, their subcontractors, Warwickshire County Council and Stowe Valley MAT has been instrumental in the timely and effective completion of this project.”
Ranjit Samra, Chief Executive Officer at Stowe Valley MAT, added: “It is wonderful to see the vision of Stowe Valley Multi-Academy Trust come to life, with a school now firmly established at the heart of the community. This milestone reflects the Trust’s commitment to delivering exceptional educational environments, and it’s fantastic to witness staff, pupils, and local families thriving within this outstanding facility.”

Warwickshire County Councillor Stephen Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Property and Finance, said: “We are proud of this project and pleased that the pupils are settling in well at their new school.
“This state-of-the-art facility not only meets the immediate needs of a growing community, but also reflects our long-term commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive education environments. It’s wonderful to see pupils thriving in a space designed to inspire learning and support every child’s potential.”
The project is designed with sustainability in mind and is on track to earn a strong environmental rating (BREEAM Very Good). Special steps are being taken to protect local wildlife, including nesting birds, old trees, and nearby badger habitats.
Speller Metcalfe also delivered a strong package of social value initiatives, including school visits, charity contributions, and regular newsletters to neighbours throughout construction.
The scheme achieved the highest possible score of 45/45 from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) – a national initiative that recognises construction sites operating with the highest levels of respect for the community, environment and workforce.
Mark Hudgeon, divisional director at Speller Metcalfe, said: “With pupils now completing their first half term at Myton Gardens Primary School, it’s fantastic to see how quickly they’ve settled in and begun to make the most of their new learning environment.
“We are incredibly proud to have been responsible for constructing a modern, safe, and welcoming facility that will benefit children, staff, and the wider community for many years to come.”
The successful delivery of Myton Gardens Primary School was made possible through close collaboration between Speller Metcalfe, Warwickshire County Council, Stowe Valley MAT, Acivico, and project partners Bond Bryan Architects, AECOM, Barnsley Marshall, Natural Dimensions, and Cundall, whose combined expertise ensured the school was completed to the highest standards and ready to welcome pupils for the new academic year.
