Kinver High School

New two-story teaching block

Project

Kinver High School

Speller Metcalfe was contracted by Kinver High School and Sixth Form to build a new two-story teaching block at the school on Enville Road, Kinver to provide for expanding numbers of pupils.

The extensive new building comprises a learning resource centre, an ICT Classroom, ten classrooms, three seminar rooms, a science studio and accommodation for teaching staff.

The project involved the demolition of two unused storage sheds in order to make way for the foundations of the teaching block, the external walls of which utilise insulated concrete form technology to achieve greater energy efficiency.

In addition to the construction of the teaching block, manhole covers have also been upgraded across the site and the curb-line has been dropped to open up a new area for staff to park.

The site team have worked closely with the school and local residents to minimise disruption to the students, teachers and surrounding areas during the construction including arranging noisy works to be scheduled outside of exam periods.

The project completed in early 2018.
