Progress is being made on multi-million-pound expansion of Stratford-upon-Avon school
Progress is being made on the multi-million-pound expansion of Stratford-upon-Avon school in Warwickshire.
The works are set to increase the school by two forms of entry, with the aim to increase the school’s capacity by 300 places over 5 years and will also allow for enhanced SEN facilities.
Multiple extensions make up the work including three, three-storey blocks to the main building as well as some internal refurbishments to toilet blocks, science rooms and corridor works.
Warwickshire County Councillor, Kam Kaur, Portfolio Holder for Education, said: “This is an exciting project which will enhance the learning environment at the school and offer places for more pupils. Expansion of the current school site will include new facilities which will further support our commitment to improve life opportunities for young people through education.”
Included in the scheme is the extension of the existing building to create new classroom space, extending the dining hall, kitchen and servery as well as additional recreational space and parking.
A new-build two-storey dance, drama and music studio will form part of the extension, as well as the remodelling and refurbishment of existing rooms to form additional teaching spaces.
External works, primarily to the front of the building will form a new access road for school and bus pick-up/drop-off points, as well as future parking and cycle spaces.
Mark Hudgeon, Director at Speller Metcalfe, said: “We’re delighted to be on site starting work on the expansion of Stratford-upon-Avon school. We know how valuable the additional facilities and increased places will be to the local community and look forward to delivering it.”
Works to the land to the eat of the school building will form a new MUGA pitch and external play area.
Regional contractor, Speller Metcalfe, have been appointed to carry out the works through the Constructing West Midlands Framework.
