New M&S store another step closer
A brand new Marks & Spencer store at Sears Retail Park in Solihull has moved one step closer to completion.
Building contractor Speller Metcalfe has moved off site following handover of the £5.7 million main construction programme, which involved the demolition of an existing Homebase store prior to redevelopment of the site to create a new 35,000 sq ft unit.
The new store will allow M&S to offer local shoppers a wider range of clothing and home products, an M&S Foodhall, café and additional car parking.
“It has been exciting to reach handover stage,” said Rob Lashford, regional director at Speller Metcalfe. “The project team, which includes many trades employed directly from Solihull and the local area, has worked exceptionally hard during a difficult year to complete the new store to shell standard.”
The project has now moved into fit-out stage, with the new store set to open this summer.
