Industry professionals take a tour of the Midlands Centre for Cyber Security site

Speller Metcalfe opened up the site of the new Cyber Quarter Midlands Centre for Cyber Security earlier this week to give construction industry professionals a behind the scenes look at the build.

The joint venture between University of Wolverhampton and Herefordshire Council has been part funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in conjunction with the Marches LEP Growth Fund and is being built by local building firm Speller Metcalfe, who are based in nearby Malvern.

The centre will provide resources for research and development across three cyber laboratories, advanced training facilities as part of the Wolverhampton Cyber Research Institute (WCRI) and additional business space for cyber companies.

The event, which was held in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIoB) and the Hereford and Worcester Constructing Excellence (HAWCE) group, saw almost thirty people attend from across all areas of the built environment. Guests were given a tour of the site followed by a presentation about the project from Speller Metcalfe Technical Director Adrian Speller and Project Lead Richard Clarke.

The 2,000 square metre centre is being built using Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and has been designed by Associated Architects to BIM Level 2 and to meet BREEAM ‘Very Good’ certification.
