Stakeholders and project partners celebrate topping out milestone at Myton Gardens School
A topping-out ceremony was held at Myton Gardens School in Warwickshire, with key stakeholders and project partners marking the significant milestone.
Ranjit Samra, CEO of Stowe Valley MAT said, “It is fantastic to see the rapid progress which has been made on site over recent months. The hard work of so many teams is coming together in the creation of a wonderful school building. A building which will be the centre of the community, and a place of inspiration for pupils and staff for many years to come. Thank you to everyone for all your efforts in getting us to this point.”
The new school is now officially watertight, as it heads towards completion this autumn.
Director for Education at Warwickshire County Council, Johnny Kyriacou said “We are delighted that new school is close to completion. Speller Metcalfe are building a first-class facility that will benefit primary children in the locality for generations to come.”
Located off Fusiliers Way, the two-storey building will provide places in reception, as well as an attached nursery for 40 children. In addition, there will be up to 14 places dedicated to SEND provision in the school.
Sarah Sheepy, Executive Head of Myton Gardens Primary School said, “It is incredibly exciting to have reached this milestone in the building of our new school. The current and future Reception children and families – as well as the Myton Gardens staff – are very excited to see the progress and are very much looking forward to moving in to the building in the new academic year. We are very grateful to all involved in the project for their hard work, commitment and expertise.”
Included in the building will be 15 classrooms, a dance and music room, library, assembly hall and a food science room.
Warwickshire County Council and Stowe Valley Multi-Academy Trust are committed to sustainability, with the school being built to the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard.
Mark Hudgeon, Divisional Director for Speller Metcalfe said: “We’re pleased to see the new Myton Gardens School reach this significant milestone, and are looking forward to seeing this building reach completion in the coming months. We recognise the significance of providing high-quality education facilities for communities and understand the impact this building will have for years to come.”
Speller Metcalfe is carrying out the works, working with Bond Bryan Architects and AECOM as the consultant on the scheme.
