Speller Metcalfe’s Scott Parton named Construction News Award’s Rising Star 2019

Speller Metcalfe Project Surveyor Scott Parton has won the Rising Star award at the 2019 Construction News Awards.

The inspirational winners of the 2019 Construction News Awards were crowned in front of the industry on 11 July at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The Construction News Awards, celebrating its 23rd year in 2019, brought together more than 1,200 of the UK’s leading clients and contractors for a glittering evening of celebration, recognition and networking.

After face-to-face review by a panel of 80 expert judges at the Construction News’ offices, Scott was hailed for his enthusiasm for Integrated Project Insurance and his belief in how collaboration and alliancing contracts will improve the industry. He was also praised for his ability to mentor and lead those around him.

“Scott is a role model who is actively involved in mentoring. His enthusiasm and ability amplify his driven nature.”

Speller Metcalfe is the only main contractor to have delivered projects using Integrated Project Insurance – a unique procurement model that focuses on collaboration – for which Scott has worked in the lead surveyor role as Alliance Cost Manager. Having started on Advance II for Dudley College of Technology in 2016, Scott is now leading on his third IPI scheme for Speller Metcalfe, with the restoration of Derby Silk Mill.

Summing up Scott’s achievements, Speller Metcalfe regional director Rob Lashford said: “Scott has gone over and above what we had ever envisaged; he has led from the front, even at such a young age, and as a result there are no barriers to where he will go.”

Lem Bingley, editor of Construction News, commented: “This year’s CN Award winners demonstrate that the construction industry remains home to unrivalled reserves of insight, invention and determination. Across 21 categories, our panel of distinguished judges found an amazing variety of groundbreaking innovation, inspired leadership and dedicated delivery.

“Every one of the shortlisted entries thoroughly deserved their place at the awards, having demonstrated their merit throughout a particularly rigorous, multi-stage judging process. In every category, the award winners can be truly proud of the scale of their accomplishments.”
