SPELLER METCALFE GET A MAKEOVER AT WARWICKSHIRE COLLEGE

Hair and Beauty students at Warwickshire College gave six lucky lads from Speller Metcalfe a hair makeover in the onsite salon which is forming part of the £5.6million Refurbishment project at the college which is being undertaken by the construction company. The six lucky lad’s haircuts were a complimentary gesture from the salon which in turn gave further experience to the third year hairdressing students. It was an opportunity for the lads on site to see first-hand some of the work that the college does, and raise awareness of the salon and its facilities that are open to the public. The salon offers a range of salon services including retail products. The refurbishment at the college compromises a new look for the interior of all six floors of the main Leamington Centre College building and conversion into the Science laboratories, new teaching spaces and Hair & Beauty facilities. The refurbishment will also see a new entrance that will provide a focal point for the site, as well as improving linkage between the main existing buildings. An extension will also form a new entrance foyer. The Speller Metcalfe Construction operatives all enjoyed the experience, and said they would definitely be back again. Site Manager Mick Taylor said “It was a great way for our guys to meet some of the students at the college and it was a bit of fun too. We have a great working relationship with the College and this was a way of us getting to know some more of the staff and do our bit to help the students.” Jo Hobbs, Technical Academy Leader at Warwickshire College says “We were delighted to welcome the team from Speller Metcalfe in to our Salons today for their haircuts. They have been working really hard on the College site and the building is really starting to take shape. Our new Salons are part of the project and we are really looking forward to opening them later in the year. “
