Speller Metcalfe was contracted by Gloucestershire County Council under their Major Contractor Framework to undertake redevelopment works at Leckhampton C of E Primary School in Cheltenham.
The £3.6m, multi-phase scheme has delivered modern facilities for pupils as well as improved access to the school.
The first phase incorporated a new, purpose-built school hall and kitchen which is predominantly used for dining, assemblies and as a performance space, and is connected via a new walkway to the main school.
Externally, the sports pitches have been levelled together with development of a new hard-standing play area.
Access has also been improved through the addition of a new pedestrian walkway from Church Road and a new staff and visitor car park, which will reduce congestion for local residents.
Following completion of Phase 1 in 2020, Speller Metcalfe undertook an additional three phases which included renewal of outdated mechanical and electrical services, improvements to internal building finishes and re-roofing works to the original school building, alongside the refurbishment and modernisation of the old hall and music rooms to create three new Reception and three new Year 6 classrooms.
The final phase of works was the extension of the existing administration area and main access to the school.
