Speller Metcalfe undertook a multiple phase project at The Richard Pate School in Leckhampton to improve access and facilities for students and teachers, carefully value engineering all works to achieve the client’s budgetary needs.

With different phases of works taking place over a three year period, Speller Metcalfe have extended and remodelled the original school building, including;

  • A large extension with curved canopy roof break-out area at the front of the school with improved security;
  • Relocation of netball hard-play area and formation of new car park;
  • Internal entrance foyer/social area and internal alterations forming ancillary areas such as cloakrooms and WC’s alongside a new layout for the staffroom, Headteacher’s office, store room and sick bay;
  • An extension to the existing school kitchens.

Speller Metcalfe have developed a close working relationship with the school, working collaboratively to value engineer the project and helping to limit disruption as much as possible with students and teachers being moved into temporary accommodation for the first six weeks of the project.
