The Cotswold School

Increasing capacity for pupils at the Outstanding school

Project

The Cotswold School

Speller Metcalfe was contracted to deliver a range of building works to support an increase in pupil numbers from 220 to 250 per year at The Cotswold School.

Designed by Robothams, the biggest element of the £5.8m scheme was the development of the new two storey, standalone English teaching block which provides 10 new classrooms. The build follows a highly sustainable, low carbon design, delivering a 100% improvement on sustainable performance under building control standards.

Alongside the new classrooms, the existing sports hall was extended to create additional gym and changing facilities, improve circulation and provide a dedicated office for sports staff. Two existing classrooms have also been converted, alongside a small extension, to form a modern suite of science laboratories.

Speller Metcalfe was selected for the scheme through our place on the Gloucestershire County Council Major Construction Works Framework.
