KNOWLE PARK PUPILS CREATE GRAFFITI MURAL FOR CONSTRUCTION SITE

Knightstone Housing and building contractor, Speller Metcalfe are working in partnership to build 35 new homes on Salcombe Road, providing 27 houses and 8 flats for shared ownership.

The site, which was once part of the Salcombe Road recreational grounds, has a temporary path running adjacent to it that is a popular access route for families getting to the school. To brighten up the walkway, Speller Metcalfe invited children from the local school to paint the hoarding surrounding the site.

With the support of local graffiti artists, 30 pupils painted the site hoarding with their own special designs. The mural incorporated the school symbol of a kite, as well as their ‘I can’ monkey which symbolises positive thinking.

Steve Speller, Joint-owner of Speller Metcalfe said: “We wanted the children to make the space their own with a mural that celebrates the school.

“It’s great to see the children giving our site a makeover with their colourful and creative designs.”

Steve Blake, Interim Director of Development at Knightstone, said: “We’re delighted to be building 35 new homes in a thriving community in Bristol. Our shared ownership programme is all about helping single people and families get a footing on the housing ladder, alongside offering quality and energy efficient homes.”

The housing project is set to complete in autumn 2017.
