Industry-leading engineering centre expansion to create over 100 new jobs

Work is well underway on Waters Corporation’s new facility at St Modwen’s Longbridge Business Park.

The new industry-leading scientific precision engineering centre located on the former West Works site and is being built by Midlands-based contractor Speller Metcalfe on behalf of St. Modwen Developments for Waters Corporation.

Waters Corporation is a global leader in analytical instruments and software serving the life, materials and food sciences for more than 60 years. The multinational company based in the U.S. has more than 7,800 employees worldwide with more than 1,000 of these employed across England and Ireland. The company will be bringing a new industry-leading precision engineering centre across three acres on Longbridge Business Park.

This new building is set to replace their existing premises in Solihull and increase space by 300% for the Waters Corporation, and with it the provision of over 100 jobs.

Located on land just off Bristol Road South, St Modwen Developments hope that this new scheme will expand their business park, which has already provided a boost to the local economy and created a significant number of jobs for local residents.

Elliot Sellars, Director of Development at St Modwen, said: “As the Longbridge regeneration continues, the site offers global companies such as Waters Corporation, the space needed to facilitate expansion. The locations connections and amenities are ideal, and the building and infrastructure capabilities on offer here are second-to-none.

“We’re really encouraged by the volume of specialised industry and world class technologies that are choosing to make Longbridge their home and look forward to welcoming Waters Corporation in 2024.”

Upon completion, the centre will span 45,000 square feet and house analytical technology development. This serves to advance Longbridge Business Park’s status as a hub for development in the West Midlands.

Rob Lashford, Divisional Director at Speller Metcalfe said: “We’re delighted to begin work on this innovative and industry-leading new centre in Longbridge. To be working on such an important project and continuing the development of the West Midlands, is something we are proud to be a part of as a regional contractor local to the area.”

The opening of the building is scheduled for 2024, with Speller Metcalfe’s works due to complete later this year.
