Future pupils get VIP tour of Myton Gardens Primary in the making
Pupils from a local primary school have donned hard hats and hi-vis jackets for a special tour of the new Myton Gardens Primary School site in Warwick, as construction continues at pace ahead of the September 2025 opening.
The visit marks a key moment for the local children – many of whom will transition to the new school once it opens – offering a first look at the building that will soon become their new learning environment.
The new two-form entry primary school, located off Fusiliers Way, will provide much-needed school places for the growing local community. The school is being delivered by Warwickshire County Council in partnership with Stowe Valley Multi-Academy Trust and Speller Metcalfe.
Since the topping-out ceremony held earlier this spring, the scheme has progressed rapidly, with key areas such as the new full-size sports pitches and MUGA (multi-use games area) almost complete, alongside the nursery.
Fit-out of the timber frame building is also ongoing, and external landscaping will continue into autumn to align with the seasonal planting window.
Warwickshire County Councillor Stephen Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Property and Finance said: “Funding of £18.8 million has been provided by the local authority for this new school as part of our work to meet sufficiency of education placements across the county.
“It’s an exciting project and the new school will have some fantastic features and facilities for future pupils to support academic and extracurricular activities. I’m really pleased to hear that the local children enjoyed their visit to the site and I’m sure they will enjoy learning at the new school when it opens next year.”

Mark Hudgeon, Divisional Director at Speller Metcalfe, said: “It’s fantastic to see children visiting their future school and beginning to build a relationship with the space. We’re proud to be delivering a building that not only meets high environmental and educational standards but also serves as a cornerstone for the local community. This is about more than just bricks and mortar – it’s about giving children the best possible start.”
The new facility includes 15 classrooms, a nursery (which will be operated independently from the school by Budbrooke House Children’s Nurseries), a library, dance and music room, assembly hall, food science room and dedicated SEND spaces. Built using SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System) construction, the scheme is designed to meet a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ sustainability standard, ensuring high environmental performance.
Additional features include a biodiversity zone, new access road connecting to Evergreen School – significantly reducing travel times for staff and students – and separate plant equipment and facilities for the on-site nursery.
Sarah Sheepy, Executive Head of Myton Gardens Primary School, added: “It was incredibly exciting and emotional to take the children to their new school. They loved seeing their new environment and were particularly excited to see the diggers. It was the first time that children have been in the building that is going to be home to hundreds of children for years to come. “
“To add, the quality of the work is fantastic. It was the first time I had seen the exterior without scaffolding, and it looks very impressive, as does the field area. So much is happening inside with decoration, fittings and flooring, we are excited to be able to move in ready for the new school year.”
The school is due for completion in autumn 2025 and will open its doors for the start of the new academic year in September.
