CONTRACTORS TEAM UP TO REFURBISH DODFORD CHILDREN’S FARM

Starting last Monday, the three WMCF contractors, Speller Metcalfe, Kier Moss and Thomas Vale Construction, worked to re-fence and refurbish the duck and chicken pens and give buildings a fresh lick of paint.

With material donated by local suppliers that include Acremay Groundwork and Greenfield Fencing and an army of volunteers from the WMCF, the work forms part of WMCF’s commitment to support and invest in the local community. As a local charity that offers holidays and short breaks to children from deprived backgrounds, WMCF was keen to use its construction experience and resource to help support the farm.

Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm Warden, Kelly Sheppard, said: “We’re really pleased with the work that’s been done. There’s always plenty to fix and repair on a farm and we’re no different at Dodford, so it’s been great to have so much support – the animals are very happy with the refurbishment and I’m sure our regular visitors will be too!”

The WMCF was launched last year and is responsible for a wide range of local authority construction projects across the West Midlands, including schools, a library, a leisure complex and police authority facilities.

Andrew Peasgood, Framework Manager for the WMCF at Worcestershire County Council, said: “Dodford Children’s Farm does a superb job and we’ve enjoyed using our skills and experience to help support such a great local charity. We hope that future generations of children continue to visit the farm and get as much out of it as we did.”
