Speller Metcalfe delivers £1.8m Bloxwich Launchpad redevelopment through Constructing West Midlands framework

Speller Metcalfe has successfully completed the £1.8m transformation of a former Post Office in Bloxwich into a state-of-the-art digital skills and business incubation centre, set to open this September.

Procured through the Constructing West Midlands (CWM) framework, the Bloxwich Launchpad redevelopment has been designed to address a recognised need for greater digital access and support in the local community. The facility will provide training, IT equipment and business resources to residents and entrepreneurs in the Walsall market town.

Working in partnership with Walsall Council and local delivery partners, the refurbished building now boasts a fully accessible, Net Zero-compliant environment featuring 16 public-access computers, laptops, meeting rooms, accessible washrooms and kitchen facilities.

The first floor houses a modern business incubation centre, offering co-working spaces, hireable desks, hybrid meeting rooms, a makerspace and a reprographics suite equipped with a 3D printer, mug press and other high-quality printing equipment to support creative enterprise.

Matthew Bailey, Divisional Director at Speller Metcalfe, said:

“Bloxwich Launchpad is a perfect example of how construction can have a direct, positive impact on a local community. By redeveloping a disused building, we’ve been able to create a modern, energy-efficient space that will help people develop vital digital skills, support local businesses and bring new opportunities to the area. Delivering this project through the CWM framework has allowed us to work collaboratively with our partners to ensure the building meets both current and future needs.”

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Deputy Leader, Walsall Council, added:

“Bloxwich Launchpad will be a great asset for local people who need better access to IT equipment and the internet. It’s been great to see the former Post Office transformed over the past couple of years and I look forward to opening the doors in the coming weeks.”

Located in the heart of Bloxwich, the centre is easily accessible via public transport and nearby parking, and will host a programme of bitesize training sessions covering topics from basic Microsoft Office skills to CV writing and online job applications.

Bloxwich Launchpad opens its doors to the public on Monday 8 September 2025.
