Speller Metcalfe announces additional managing director appointment
Regional contractor, Speller Metcalfe, has announced the appointment of Adrian Speller to the role of Managing Director, effective 2 January 2025.
Adrian, who has served as the company’s Technical Director for several years, has taken on the new role alongside his brother, current Managing Director, James Speller.
The appointment marks a natural progression for Adrian, who has played a pivotal role in the company’s leadership alongside James since his appointment to MD in 2022. Commenting on the announcement, James described the promotion as “a formality only.”
He added: “Adrian has played a fundamental role in managing our company for a number of years, and this appointment recognises the contributions he has made to the successful running of Speller Metcalfe.
“He is one of the most competent people I know – a well-respected and liked leader – and I’m delighted to be managing the future of our family business alongside him.”
Adrian has been instrumental in positioning Speller Metcalfe as an industry leader in low-carbon and sustainable construction. Under his technical guidance, the company has achieved numerous UK-firsts in areas such as BREEAM and Integrated Project Insurance (IPI) and has gone onto win several awards including Contractor of the Year at both the Construction News and Building Awards respectively.
“After 20 years with the group, I remain fully committed to our mission of delivering cutting-edge, sustainable solutions while promoting collaboration and innovation,” says Adrian.
“With Speller Metcalfe’s strong foundation of family values and a culture of teamwork, and working together with James and our dedicated staff, we will continue on our journey to stand at the forefront of regional contracting.”
The announcement comes following the retirement of joint founder, Andy Metcalfe, which was announced in October 2024.
