Woodmancote Primary School

New teaching block and classroom extension delivered through the Gloucestershire County Council Framework

Project

Woodmancote Primary School

Speller Metcalfe was contracted through the Gloucestershire County Council framework to deliver a new teaching block and extension to the existing school, which is situated in a residential area.

The new single storey block includes two new classrooms, toilets and a large activity room for muliple use. Built to a high spec, the new block incorporates interactive whiteboards, large windows to increase natural daylight and heat recovery technology to lower energy bills, with the airtightness test achieving close to Passivhaus standards at 1.6 air changes per hour.

The extension has been sympathetically added to mirror the existing building, which now houses admin and meeting rooms, a new headteacher’s office, better circulation for the reception area, toilets a west room and a new staff room to accommodate a larger team.

The scheme, which remained live throughout the project, was delivered in sequenced phases, with some of the work negotiated at a later date.
