Western walkway, Bristol Airport

A project which included working air side/land side and the completion of a new walkway. Speller Metcalfe completed separate extensions and infill’s to provide waiting room areas for passengers. This required extensive groundwork’s, in a live site with a 4 ft counter balance concrete fill to ensure the stability of the extensions.

This project required careful logistical management, due to the long distance between Speller Metcalfe’s site compound and the live site. Our project team demonstrated careful coordination and good communication between the management and site teams to ensure works were carried out in accordance to the programme and safely.

The project involved working in a live environment, with a live walkway above which contained members of the public and a waiting room being constructed beneath it. Also the main baggage handling traffic, went through the site centre and work was being completed alongside this.
