Hereford Medical Centre
One Creative Environments
Speller Metcalfe has been appointed to build a new, three storey medical centre in Hereford.
A design and build project for healthcare developers, Prime PLC, the contract has been awarded through Speller Metcalfe’s place on Prime’s Private Investment Construction (PIC) Framework.
Five Herefordshire GP practices are joining together under one roof at the new ‘super surgery’ which will also offer specialist services to patients from practices in the surrounding areas.
With a highly sustainable, energy efficient design, the building is of a piled foundation in-situ concrete structure up to ground floor slab level with a braced steel frame above. The external walls are mainly metal framework forming the inner skin with brickwork, render or cladding on insulation external facings. Upper floors are composite metal deck and insitu concrete. Internal walls are metal stud with plasterboard both sides. Internal finishes are to be robust and easy to maintain.
Externally, the majority of the remaining site is car parking. Footpaths are hard surfaced providing connection routes and the remainder of the site is of soft landscape.
