New energy efficient and affordable homes completed in Cubbington
The completion of 17 new homes on a brownfield site in Cubbington is a landmark achievement Warwick District Council.
The one to four bedroomed houses and apartments, seven of which have been made available as Council homes have been built on District Council owned land, following their purchase of the 1.78 acre plot at the former Waverley Riding School Stables in 2020.
Since securing the land the Council has worked alongside construction partner Speller Metcalfe to create homes which are not only affordable, but also energy efficient benefitting from air source heat pumps, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
Councillor Helen Adkins Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing commented:
“It’s wonderful to see the long-term strategy of the Council to boost the provision of affordable and high-quality housing in the local area taking shape whilst also regenerating disused brownfield land.
We’ve received very positive feedback from the new residents who are settling in well and enjoying their new homes.”
Of the new homes, two are social rent (shared ownership), five are affordable homes, the remaining ten houses are being sold on the open market through estate agent RA Bennett, with four already occupied. The proceeds from the private sales will be reinvested by Warwick District Council to facilitate future developments.
