Who we are

Speller Metcalfe is on a mission… and it’s a simple one. We want to build a sustainable company at the forefront of construction – one that is built with a people-first approach in mind.

As a family business with over 30 years’ experience under our belts, our focus is not just getting you through the door, but developing your skills to support a long-term career with us. We’re proud of our high levels of staff retention and with staff at the very heart of our company, you’re never just a cog in the machine, but someone who can truly have an impact on how we do business.

Our background

Established in 1995 by Steve Speller and Andy Metcalfe, their vision was to develop a business at the cutting edge of construction, built upon an ethos of family values which are reflected in everything we do.

Now one of the UK’s leading regional contractors, we predominantly work across the Midlands and South West regions. With offices in Malvern and Wolverhampton, we deliver a range of public and private sector projects from £250k up to £30 million across a numbers of fields including education, healthcare, residential and leisure.

The job

To provide friendly, reliable first-line IT support to employees across the business, helping them resolve day-to-day issues with laptops, mobile devices, Microsoft 365, printers, networks and business applications. The role will also support the rollout and ongoing management of Microsoft Intune, including preparing, enrolling, replacing and troubleshooting company laptops and mobile devices. This is an excellent opportunity for an apprentice or graduate with some existing IT support experience to develop practical skills in a busy IT environment..

How You’ll Contribute

In this busy role, you will:

  • Act as a first point of contact for IT support requests received by telephone, email, Teams and the IT ticketing system.
  • Log, prioritise and resolve first-line support tickets, keeping users updated throughout.
  • Set up and issue laptops, monitors, mobile phones and other IT equipment for new starters and replacement devices.
  • Support Microsoft Intune device enrolment, including Autopilot builds, application installation, device compliance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and Office applications.
  • Provide support for Windows laptops, printers, Wi-Fi, VPN access, passwords and user accounts.
  • Help diagnose hardware faults and arrange repairs, replacements or supplier returns where required.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, equipment allocations and IT documentation.
  • Assist with leavers’ processes, including recovery of equipment and removal of access as directed.
  • Escalate more complex incidents to senior IT colleagues, providing clear notes of checks already completed.
  • Support IT projects, including the wider Intune rollout, device refreshes and site technology deployments.
  • Follow company IT security policies, including the secure handling of company data and equipment.
  • Build positive relationships with users at all levels, providing clear and patient support.
