The job

Due to business growth, we are seeking a new Senior Planner to join the team. In this role, you will provide primarily pre-construction planning services on a mix of traditional and design and build contracts, with assistance and contribution on live projects when required. As a Senior Planner, you’ll also manage and mentor other less experienced members of the planning team.

This is a ‘blended working’ role split between home and the Malvern office.

How you’ll contribute

In this busy role, you will:

Pre-Construction Phase

  • Digest the tender documentation, visit site to understand construction methodology and constraints.
  • Identify areas of risk and consideration for all submitted tenders.
  • Contribute to the capturing of project risks and proposing mitigating actions.
  • Prepare tender programmes, indicating critical dates, key material order dates and lead-in periods.
  • Meeting/communicating with supply chain specialists to confirm suitable method and programme for scope given project specific constraints.
  • Preparation of tender scaffold and temporary works schedules for inclusion in tender preliminaries.
  • Provide advice and complete the tender preliminaries booklet.
  • Investigate, suggest and programme alternative construction methods.
  • Prepare site logistical plans, site set-up drawings and construction method statements and quality question responses to be submitted as part of the tender bid.
  • Manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met. Highlight any potential work overload to Pre- Construction Manager as soon as it is apparent.
  • To assist in the preparation of PQQ’s
  • Meetings to attend; adjudication, technical, client and project meetings (As requested.)

Construction phase

  • Review and manage construction programmes through the construction phase, rescheduling these as necessary.
  • Produce sub-contract procurement and design information requirement schedules.
  • Produce programmes relating to construction delay/disruption showing relevant events and the effect on the build process, providing written reports to substantiate.

 

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will bring your enthusiasm and determination as well as:

Essential

  • Experience working as a planner within general contracting.
  • keen eye for detail, maintaining strict deadlines in accordance with the tender process.

Desirable

  • Experience of planning within education, healthcare and leisure.
  • Experience in reviewing buildability of scheme
