The building is an innovative structure combining steel frame, glulam frame and timber frame panelling to form a curved, elevated building with section steps at each bay, nicknamed the ‘Armadillo’.
The building employs a range of environmental features; sedum roof technology, high specification heat recovery systems and sustainable drainage solutions combined with Hemcrete wall mass insulation, ensuring an economic building that retains heat and warmth.
A range of youth based spaces are now available, including a drop in café venue with in-house catering facility, disco/dance facility with ability to host live music, cinema, performance and dance studio, and office and meeting room provision.
