Speller Metcalfe has successfully completed a new, three storey medical centre in Hereford.
Located in the heart of the city, five Herefordshire GP practices have joined together under one roof at the new ‘super surgery’, which also offers specialist services to patients from practices in the surrounding areas.
The health centre was designed by One Creative Environments to be a highly sustainable and energy efficient building, with facilities including an on-site pharmacy, 92 parking spaces, 14 cycle stands and an ambulance bay.
Services available at the new surgery include diabetes, midwifery and cardiology clinics, family planning, routine GP appointments and GP urgent care clinics. The design of the surgery has also evolved to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, with protective guards fitted around the reception desk area and surfaces finished in materials designed to withstand hypochlorite cleaning to ensure infection control.
A design and build project for healthcare developers Prime PLC, the contract was awarded through Speller Metcalfe’s place on Prime’s Private Investment Construction (PIC) Framework.
