Complex operating theatre refurbishment

Project

Apollo Operating Theatre

Following the successful delivery of several projects for the trust, Speller Metcalfe was appointed to carry out an intensive refurbishment project at Cheltenham General Hospital.

The Apollo Theatre is an existing Orthopaedic Operating Theatre – one of a complex of three existing theatres that are situated in a tight, side-by-side configuration, sharing a common clean and dirty corridor arrangement.

The project has included minor structural alteration, refurbishment of the building fabric, installation of new (and rationalisation of existing) air handling systems and services and the installation of a new UCV laminar flow hood and theatre equipment.

The project has also included:

  • Installation of new UCV hood and works to ducting above ceilings and within risers;
  • Removal of the existing Globe and Apollo theatre AHU’s from plant room;
  • Installation of a new AHU to an adjacent plant room including new duct connections;
