Worcester Sixth Form College – Science Extension

A new four-storey extension to support the provision of STEM subjects

Project

Worcester Sixth Form College – Science Extension

Speller Metcalfe has completed a four-storey extension to create a new science centre on behalf of Worcester Sixth Form College.

A repeat client, the college wanted to increase the provision of STEM opportunities for students, by providing four new industry standard laboratories, preparatory rooms and classroom space. Science is a huge part of the college’s curriculum offer with a total of 615 students directly benefitting from being able to use these new rooms.

Capital projects such as this have enabled the college to respond to a significant increase in the demand for places with a 27% increase in those opting to study science subjects over the last four years.

Completion of the project also allows old laboratories to be transformed into fantastic facilities for students of other subjects to benefit from, including bespoke media and health rooms.
