Speller Metcalfe has completed a series of projects for University of Worcester


University of Worcester

Speller Metcalfe has worked closely with the University of Worcester for a number of years, undertaking a series of facilities management, refurbishment and design and build projects for the University. All projects so far have been competitively tendered and include:

  • Design and build of the Student Union including additional works awarded during the contract; upgrade to Costa café and remodelling the gymnasium in the Sheila Scott building into classrooms;
  • Complete refurbishment of the Pierson Library to create a more energy efficient space, improve natural ventilation and upgrade facilities;
  • 2013 summer works: remodelling classrooms, masonry alterations, M&E upgrades, new science laboratories, fit-out. At its peak Speller Metcalfe was working across 13 separate areas of the University;
  • 2014 summer works: dining hall refurbishment, corridor and toilet refurb, Cotswold suite refurb, drama studio refurb;
  • Vesta Tilley: refurbishment of the three storey Vesta Tilley student accommodation on St John’s campus;
  • External repairs to the Charles Hasting Building;
  • Refurbishment of the Elgar Science Labs, including new lift, chemical store and M&E upgrades.

Speller Metcalfe was selected for the University of Worcester Contractor’s framework in 2017.
