Speller Metcalfe renovated the existing Grade II buildings to create ideal facilities for the Foundation’s work. These included main house alterations and refurbishment, renovation and conversion of The Clock house and Foyle Studio from former stables to accommodation and workspaces and finally refurbishment of further out buildings to provide a writer’s den and performance space.
The work has also improved movement around site, created secluded outdoor spaces for writers, significantly improved disabled access and made substantial improvements to the environmental performance of the buildings, including installation of renewable technologies.
