Redditch Police Station

Project

Redditch Police Station

Speller Metcalfe was contracted by West Mercia Police to develop the existing Redditch police station building into a more welcoming space for the general public.

Works comprised of a new entrance layout, disabled access ramps / parking bays, internal room layout changes to include two interview rooms, new counter, door automation, new windows and doors and comfort cooling.

The contract was undertaken while the station remained live; this meant that noise restrictions were applied and loud works could only be undertaken at certain times of the day. The station also housed the Police Rapid Response Unit, so 24/7access and egress was extremely important, and all site works had to be organised through the site plan to increase maximum space and site area perimeters.

Large amounts of asbestos in awkward hidden areas were also identified and removed from site.
