Broadway Campus decarbonisation

Project

Broadway Campus decarbonisation

Previously heated by gas boilers, these were decommissioned as part of the decarbonisation of Broadway Campus, in advance of the installation of two air source heat pumps, which were installed while all remaining radiators and pipework remained in situ for cost-saving purposes.

Each of the two pumps requires 600kw of power, and subsequently a new transformer was installed with National Grid upgrading the local power supply in order to feed the pumps, making this a major project with complex requirements and intense collaboration.

90% of the building’s windows were also replaced to reinsulate the building as much as possible, alongside the replacement of a new roof, ensuring the building performs to a high standard and retain warmth during colder months. This was all done in tandem with the retrofit of an existing building to form the multi award-winning the Animal Studies Centre.

The project was procured through the Pagabo framework.
