Piano building, Kidderminster

The transformation of the Grade II listed Piano Building in Kidderminster town centre has been successfully completed, marking a new chapter in the town’s regeneration story.

Originally built in 1867 by Brintons as a wool warehouse, the Piano Building has been carefully restored and repurposed into a vibrant mixed-use destination. The redevelopment has created high-quality co-working and hybrid working spaces, alongside space for restaurants and entertainment venues on the ground floor.

The project was delivered by Speller Metcalfe on behalf of Wyre Forest District Council, following the council’s purchase of the historic building and adjacent bus station site in 2024. The scheme was made possible through £17.9 million of Government Levelling Up funding, awarded to help revitalise Kidderminster’s town centre.

Once home to Birmingham Metropolitan College’s Kidderminster Academy until 2019 and unoccupied ever since, the building now stands as a symbol of sustainable regeneration – preserving the town’s industrial heritage while creating a dynamic space for business, creativity, and community life.
