Warwick Police Headquarters

Project

Warwick Police Headquarters

Speller Metcalfe was contracted to deliver a high security, bomb-proof structure featuring a complex, electrical design on behalf of Warwickshire police.

The site plan and organisation of this project was extremely stringent as the new bomb-proof extension was built on the existing Warwick HQ site, which at the time housed the main live emergency response call centre for 999.

The extension was a cast in-situ concrete shell, clad in a mixture of brick work and architectural block work to match the existing façade. Once constructed, we installed a new uninterrupted power supply that was then integrated into the buildings system.

In addition, ducts were excavated and laid throughout the grounds from the incoming mains to the new extension and out to a back-up generator that was also installed. Included in these works were slabs for the generator and fuel storage tank, an RC bund wall around the tank, fencing and landscaping to all the finished areas. Additionally, DDA ramps and retaining walls were constructed around the new extension.
