Picture House Court

A ground-breaking and highly sustainable development in Bristol

Project

Picture House Court

Speller Metcalfe was contracted by North Street Developments to transform the site of a former Gala Bingo Hall into 26 highly sustainable homes. The Picture House Court development comprises 26 dwellings – 12 houses and 10 apartments with associated parking and ancillary services, alongside the construction of four additional town houses and commercial space, built to Passivhaus principles.

The flats range in size from 1-2 bedroom as well as a two-storey maisonette option, all with private balconies. These properties are located on top of the commercial unit. The 12 private houses are set along two rows of six (Albert Terrace and Victoria Terrace).

The four town houses on Clyde Place feature and internal garage, kitchen / diner and toilet on the ground floor. The first floor houses the living room and first bedroom, with two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. Finally the master bedroom with en-suite leads out to a roof terrace on the third floor.

The development was designed to foster a shared sense of community and environmental responsibility amongst its residents, with all of the properties being built to the most sustainable building standards including Passivhaus, PHI Low Energy Building and AECB Building Performance standard.
