Speller Metcalfe was contracted to develop a community centre on the new Emersons Green Urban Village development in Bristol.
The building was constructed using brick and block, masonry walls, a steel frame and standing seam aluminium roof.
The community centre was built to meet the needs of local residents, with the building providing a space for hire, local events, classes and workshops. The main feature is a large multi-use hall, which houses two badminton courts, as well as meeting rooms for hire, changing rooms, kitchen and toilets.
The hall forms part of a larger development, which incorporates over 2000 new homes alongside two new primary schools, land for a secondary school, sports pavilion, health centre, nursery, BMX track, sports pitches, retail and employment space and an extra care facility.
