Project

Cubbington

Speller Metcalfe was appointed to deliver 17 brand-new energy efficient new homes in Cubbington for Warwick District Council. All dwellings incorporate a number of renewable measures to achieve EPC A rating. Measures include:

  • Air source heat pumps
  • Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery
  • Waste water heat recovery
  • Photovoltaic arrays
  • Air tightness below 3.5m³/m².hr
  • Energy efficient thermal fabric and high performance thermal bridge details

The scheme was designed with the framework of a Whole Live Carbon Assessment to ensure design solutions adopted minimised CO2 emissions in the manufacture, installation and use of the dwellings over a 100 year reference period. This resulted in a development well within the RIBA 2030 embodied carbon design targets.

Seven of the properties are affordable homes as part of the Council’s ambitious programme of delivering a number of local, affordable council house buildings. The scheme is part of a wider strategy to enable local people to continue living within the district, whilst also making use of brownfield land.
