The job

Our highly-regarded SHEQ team has a very exciting opportunity available for someone who’d like to grow their career in Health & Safety, Environment and Quality performance. We have high aspirations as a company in relation to our SHEQ commitments, and in this role you will have the chance to build on your existing experience in the SHEQ arena. Through our development programme, you will be supported to grow your confidence and experience in hands-on application of SHEQ policies and procedures and will – over time – become and expert in this area.  This is a ‘blended working’ role split between home and the office (2 days per week at home).

How You’ll Contribute

In this busy role, you will:

  • Assist the environmental, health and safety managers with pre-construction risk assessments identifying controls
  • Assist the environmental, health and safety managers (EHS) and Estimators in considering required actions at tender stage
  • Complete Environmental audits and advisory visits across all sites under the guidance of the Environmental lead
  • In due course, assist with Health and Safety site inspections and audits under the guidance of senior health and safety manager and EHS
  • Allow continued adherence to Company EHS Policy and associated regulations
  • When needed, develop and provide EHS training to employees
  • Champion environmental initiatives that reduce the carbon footprint produced by the Company
  • Act as a Company representative on Environmental, Health and Safety matters, working alongside the EHS to present our credentials at project Specific presentations and across general marketing profiles.
  • Assist the EHS and social liaison officer in championing the principles of the Considerate Constructors and similar schemes and providing site specific assistance to assist with compliance
  • Offer assistance and guidance to the directors and contract managers in drafting and developing site specific Environmental Management Plans, Green Travel Plans, Site Waste Management Plans and Construction Phase Plans
  • Monitor and review implementation of the plans at site level assisting with the presentation of topic specific tool box talks to increase environmental, Health and Safety awareness
  • Assist in ensuring the compliance of company environmental management with the ISO14001 procedure manual and in demonstrating this at external audit
  • Assist in ensuring the compliance of company Quality procedures with ISO18001

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will bring your enthusiasm and determination as well as:


  • Degree or post-school level qualification in Health & Safety or Construction Management or related field; if you do not have a formal qualification but have hands-on experience, you think may be relevant, please do also apply outlining your experience
  • Hands-on experience (such as work experience) of any length in SHEQ
