The job

Due to retirement, a rare opportunity has arisen to join our Living Team as a Multi-Skilled Operative. In this full-time role, you will apply your expertise across a range of construction trades including – but not limited to – carpentry, masonry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, tiling and general repairs. This role will have responsibility for emergent defects and will allow you to apply your exceptional problem-solving abilities, working always at a high standard of workmanship and safety.

How you’ll contribute

In this busy role, you will:

  • Contribute to the successful completion of construction projects by efficiently performing tasks in accordance with project plans, specifications, and deadlines.
  • Manage the defect workload and arrange appointments to attend occupied properties to rectify construction emergent defects.
  • Survey and protect areas of property affected by the works, ordering necessary materials to carry out works.
  • Transition between different trades and responsibilities as required by project demands, demonstrating versatility and flexibility.
  • Ensure work meets or exceeds industry standards, maintaining a high level of attention to detail and precision across all assigned tasks.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to construction work, making informed decisions that promote efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Properly operate and maintain tools and equipment related to various trades, ensuring their functionality and safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, project managers, and sub-contractors, providing clear updates and insights on work progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any challenges faced; attend site and ‘End of Defect’ meetings as required.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new techniques, and emerging technologies within the construction field to enhance your skill set.

 

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will bring your enthusiasm and determination as well as:

  • Expertise across a range of construction trades, including carpentry, masonry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, tiling and general repairs.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role with responsibility for booking and managing own workload.
  • Ability to work in and around the midlands/Worcestershire/Gloucestershire; current valid driving licence.
  • Basic IT skills required for recording work.
