With offices in Malvern and Wolverhampton, we deliver a range of public and private sector projects from £250k up to £30 million across a numbers of fields including education, healthcare, residential and leisure.

 

The job

How you’ll contribute

We require a Communications Officer to join our small but busy communications team who will take on a variety of tasks within creative, PR, marketing and event communication.

Primary tasks:

  • Create, edit and proofread written content for a variety of communication channels and materials, including press releases, articles and e-shots (internal and external)
  • Develop and manage social media content, including trend research and implementation of best practices
  • Coordinate and contribute to the planning and delivery of internal and external events
  • Manage and update email distribution lists for news and event communications
  • Support and write awards applications
  • Update content on the company website and intranet to ensure accuracy and relevance
  • Champion the integration of company values and objectives into all communications, encouraging innovative and engaging approaches
  • Undertake training and professional development relevant to the role
  • Site and event visits to support delivery of communications (NB our regions are predominantly South West and Midlands based)

Secondary tasks:

  • Marketing materials: campaign content, company documentation and branded collateral
  • Maintain and improve internal communications, supporting initiatives such as employee engagement programmes and regular staff updates
  • Assist the Communications & Engagement Manager in the planning and delivery of crisis communications and training
  • Collaborate with departments such as HR and SHEQ to produce engaging, audience-appropriate content
  • Report on communication activities and performance every two months
  • Using Adobe software to support in the delivery of creative material (primarily InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Managing additional communications required by partners and charitable organisations

 

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will bring your enthusiasm and determination as well as:

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant discipline (e.g. communication, PR, marketing, journalism etc.), OR proven track record in writing, communications and/or events
  • Some industry experience in a similar role or discipline
  • Experienced with Microsoft packages and computer literate / capable of learning new programmes as required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to confidently converse with a range of professionals both on the phone and via Teams
  • Full driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience of using WordPress / Mailchimp to update and manage communication
  • Experience of using Adobe packages, in particular InDesign and Photoshop
  • Experience of a wide-range of writing mediums, for example newsletters, e-shots, features, awards applications and blogs
  • Experience and understanding of differing social media platforms, and ability to write and produce content (both written and digital) to suit company needs
  • Experience of organising events
  • Experience of working in construction

The successful candidate will be provided with training and mentoring as required, enabling them to develop a varied skill set as required by the communications team.

This is a full-time position, with working hours between 08:30 – 17:00. Some early starts / late evenings may be required for event attendance; however, this is on an ad-hoc basis and not a regular requirement.
